Deepening Impact Through Scalable Tech with Segal Family Foundation
Celebrating a decade of global impact.

Grounded in a deep respect for, and admiration of local community leaders and activists in Sub Saharan Africa, Segal Family Foundation envisions a reality in which power and capital are not in the hands of philanthropists but rather at the fingertips of local community leaders. Since 2008, Segal Family Foundation’s vision has been to empower grassroots leaders to identify and solve systemic community problems. By alleviating the restrictions of traditional funding structures, we are enabling leaders to focus on solving problems.
Since 2013, we've been working with the Segal Family Foundation to empower their partners, especially those with limited expertise in their community, to connect with the best talent in the operational areas that were most urgent for each organization.
Caren McNelly McCormack, President and Co-Founder of The Kilgoris Project, says, “We were able to find a Ugandan CPA to migrate our Kenya office to Quickbooks online to sync with our US office. It was a huge benefit to access someone with relevant cultural knowledge and in the same time zone as our team in Kilgoris.”
As we enter our tenth year of our partnership, the Segal Family Foundation continues to grow as a philanthropic leader in international development. The Foundation has close relationships with their grantees–creating long-term, impactful partnerships for the community. Access to volunteer expertise has been critical in strengthening their work and increasing the reach of their impact. We’re excited to grow together and expand our impact on an international scale.

“Our experience using Catchafire has undoubtedly been positive- we have come across various enthusiastic and professional volunteers who care about our work and have supported it. Some have been repeat volunteers we've been able to rely on to deliver projects at shorter notice, which has been very valuable. Our communications assets, graphic design, and financial systems have been strengthened by our partnership with Catchafire.”
